Precious is an internationally celebrated diversity advocate, communications expert, and sought-after public speaker. Currently, she serves as the Chief Strategy Officer at the Center on Halsted, the largest LGBTQ+ community center in the Midwest, and as a Commissioner with the Metropolitan District of Greater Chicago, where she plays a critical role in safeguarding Lake Michigan—the primary drinking water source for over 5 million residents.With over 15 years of experience spanning nonprofit management, public administration, and strategic communications, Precious has built a reputation as a dynamic leader and thought partner. She has successfully led initiatives that advance diversity, equity, and inclusion, while leveraging her expertise to foster meaningful organizational transformation. As a speaker and panelist, she is frequently featured at premier institutions and corporations worldwide, including Google, United Airlines, The University of Chicago, Northwestern University, University of Michigan, The Chicago Community Trust, Weber Shandwick, and the University of Cambridge.In her previous role as Assistant Director of Diversity Recruitment Initiatives at Columbia College Chicago—her alma mater, where she earned a BA in Liberal Arts—Precious led groundbreaking diversity programs that shaped national recruitment strategies and campus-wide inclusion initiatives. During her tenure, she was instrumental in enhancing the institution’s commitment to fostering an inclusive, equitable academic environment for all students.Earlier in her career, Precious served as the Youth Outreach Coordinator at Center on Halsted, where she led a transformative $1.6 million CDC-funded HIV prevention initiative. This program, which focused on outreach, education, and youth services, directly impacted over 3,000 young African American and Latino LGBTQ+ youth, ages 13 to 24. Through this work, Precious pioneered essential community programs, including youth counseling, HIV testing, and health education, effectively empowering a new generation of LGBTQ+ leaders.In addition to her professional accomplishments, Precious is the author of I Have Always Been Me, a memoir published by Topple Books and Amazon Publishing. The book chronicles her personal journey of self-discovery and resilience, offering inspiration and empowerment to individuals facing societal and cultural barriers.
