I am currently working as a Associate Vice President at GVK Biosciences, Hyderabad, India and heading In vitro Pharmacology and Reagent generation services. With more than 15 years experience in Pharmacological and Molecular Biology research in reputed academic research institutes, I have joined GVK Biosciences in early 2007. Since then, I have been working closely with large, Mid and Small size Pharma, Biotech, Agro and Academic groups on stand alone and integrated/collaborative projects and established a track record of high-quality collaborations from early to preclinical drug discovery. My team has established a battery of over 120 screening assays with high reproducibility and sensitivity suits for HTS and SAR programs for targets like GPCRs, Enzymes, Transporters and Ion channels.Before joining GVK Biosciences, I worked as a Research Associate at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center, New York I have conducted research on the role of Opioid receptors (family of G protein coupled receptors) in pain management and drug addiction. I have also investigated dimerization of GPCRs and its impact on the pharmacology of interacting receptors. This could be a future direction for identification of new drug candidates for GPCRs. After completion of my PhD on Molecular Virology, I have joined as a Post Doctoral Fellow at Weizmann Institute of Science in Israel. At WIS my research focus was on the role of dopamine in the progression of Parkinson disease. Besides these, my expertise in gene knockdown using SiRNA approach extended joint research collaborations efforts with recognized HIV research group at the University of Pennsylvania and a cancer research group at Technion-Institute of Technology in Israel.
