About Prem Kumar Ramesh
Dr. Prem Kumar Ramesh is the co-founder of Axlaron semiconductors, an India based semiconductor company specializing in the end-to-end design and manufacture of indigenous high-performance and energy efficient system-on-chips. He received the bachelor of engineering degree in computer science and engineering from Sri Sairam Engineering College, Anna University, Chennai, India. He received the PhD degree in electrical and computer engineering from Iowa State University, Ames, USA in 2011. During the program he was awarded Jerry R Junkins Chair Fellowship, in recognition of outstanding scholarly achievement. He was also the President of ‘Sankalp’, a non-profit, fundraising, campus student organization at ISU (2008-2009). In the industry, he has served in leading roles, successfully delivering several cutting-edge projects in Intel, Qualcomm, and ARM as a CPU architect, focusing on functional, performance, and power validation, as well as FuSa. Has also served as department head and research center head in academia. He received several awards including Department Organizational Award, in Intel IoT group, for showing excellent demonstration of risk taking, result orientation, cross organization, and cross site collaboration. He is also a Functional Safety Certified Automotive Engineer for ISO 26262 Standard certified by TÜV SÜD. He also holds Erdős Rank 3, co-authoring papers with Dr. Arun Somani.He is a senior member of IEEE and was a member of ACM and CSI intermittently from 2002 to 2011. He has participated in several international and national conferences, workshops and symposiums and published papers in peer reviewed international conferences and prestigious international journals. He has won several awards including best paper awards and merit scholarships. In 2020, he was the General Chair for IEEE International Conference on Communication, Computing, and Industry 4.0. His bachelor’s project was selected as the best project of the year and was awarded the Computer Science Outstanding Undergraduate Award (2005) by Tamilnadu State Council for Science and Technology (TNSCST), among around 200 Engineering Colleges.
