Provided the strategic vision and leadership for a network of over 50 staff members through three direct reports.Managed and executed a federal grant from the U.S. Small Business Administration to serve small businesses in Orange, Riverside and San Bernardino counties with a $4.2M budget. Built and maintained relationships with multiple stakeholders including: higher educational institutions; non-profit entities; legislators; chambers of commerce and community groups. Spearheaded and conducted presentations to diverse audiences. Successfully achieved national accreditation twice, using Malcolm Baldridge standards.Worked extensively to advocate on behalf of small businesses to federal, state and local legislators. Since 2011, served as the State Chairperson for the California Small Business Development Centers and testified before the California State Assembly committee on Jobs, Economic Development and the Economy for a bill for the California Small Business Development Centers. In 2012, testified before the Little Hoover Commission regarding Governor Jerry Brown’s Reorganization Plan. Additionally, primary Project Manager for a disaster preparedness contract with theCalifornia Seismic Safety Commission.

Hired to revitalize and lead the most prestigious Hispanic organization in Orange County serving the HispanicBusiness community. Testified before the California Public Utilities Commission (PUC) and represented smallbusiness interests. Testified before the California State Assembly’s International Trade Committee and represented exporters. Raised funds through corporate relationships and increased the chamber’s budget in a down economy; while simultaneously decreasing costs by 60%. Advocated and took positions on legislation on behalf of Hispanic businesses through the chamber’s Government Affairs committee, which included representatives from local, state and federal legislators, alongside corporate, community partners and chamber members. Represented the chamber at numerous public speaking engagements and presentations before large and diverse audiences.Partnered with the National Society of Hispanic MBAs to Co-Found the Orange County Hispanic Youth Chamber of Commerce. The Youth Chamber is an organization that caters to college-aged (18-26) young professionals by providing professional development, access to higher education and connects young professionals to the business community and today has over 350 members.

Contracted with the City of Long Beach and Port of Long Beach to organize and provide international trade seminars, international trade consulting and overall project management for the Long Beach International Trade Office. I provided updates and status presentations to the Port of Long Beach’s Harbor Commission and City of Long Beach City Council Members on a semi-annual basis. Advocated and represented small business exporters to local, state and federal legislators.Awarded $500,000 contract to direct USDA project to train and prepare 30 new-to-export women and minority- owned food companies statewide. Recruited local women and minority, food and agricultural companies for trade missions and trade shows in Mexico – resulted in over $6 million in sales (2002, 2003, 2005, and 2006).

Responsible for international and national accounts in England with major retail chains. Met and negotiated with buyers for promotions, merchandising and new listings in England and continental Europe. Negotiated, selected and managed national and international distributors.Partnered with the CEO to set-up three snack and Mexican food manufacturing facilities in Calais, France. Negotiated purchasing contracts for sugar, popcorn, oil and other large quantity ingredients. Coordinated, launched and marketed a variety of new snack food products. Trained and managed 10 French office staff. Attended all major European Food Trade Shows
