Priscilla Hunter, Professor Emerita of Spanish at Southern Oregon University, is a freelance literary translator, literary translation workshop leader, and poet. She works bilingually with Spanish and her native English. She has high-level editing skills, broad experience and advanced study in Latin America and Spain, and extensive experience in university teaching of advanced Spanish-language acquisition at the undergraduate and graduate level in the U.S. and Central America. Her focus is contemporary Latin American literature, film, and translation. She translates primarily Latin American literature and, selectively, legal, business, fine arts, and social science material from and into Spanish, along with some translation of French, Portuguese, Italian. Professional experience: superior-level translation of texts, including books of poetry by Pablo Neruda, Juana de Ibarbourou, and Mario Benedetti; plays by Antonio Gala and William Shakespeare; novels by Mario Benedetti and Enrique Luis Revol; poems, essays, chapters, and stories by, among many others, Jorge Luis Borges, Federico Garcia Lorca, William Stafford, Hugo Hiriart and Juan Villoro. She has experience interpreting in public settings such as meetings, interviews, and television and radio work, including speeches and interviews by Carmen Laforet, Isabel Allende, Ernesto Cardenal and other dignitaries. Publications: her poems, translations, reviews, literary and translation analysis in English & Spanish. In 2007 she gave the keynote address at the annual conference of the Korean Spanish Language Association in Seoul, Korea. In 2015 she was invited by the Association of Mexican Translators to present a literary translation workshop at the Feria Internacional de Libros in Guadalajara. In 2018 Mutaciones bruscas, her translation of a novel by Enrique Luis Revol (Argentina), was published by Dalkey. Currently she is translating El cielo llora por mi and Ya nadie llora por mi by Nicaraguan author Sergio Ramirez.
