• Completed fieldwork as part of M.A. course in Tarasha, an NGO aiming to rehabilitate and reintegrate women formerly institutionalised within Thane Mental Hospital by providing them with vocational training and counselling within a community-centred recovery model. • Conducted group sessions with the women on topics such as self-assertion, cooperation and self-esteem.• Conducted extensive conversations with the women living in the hospital to build an understanding of their circumstances and help them cope with their daily lives.• Gained experience and understanding in the many gaps that exist within the dominant women’s movement(s) with respect to catering to the needs of women with psycho-social disabilities. • Gained key insights into the state of mental institutions and laws in the country.
