After studying for a B.Sc. in Botany at the Gauhati University (Pandu College), I continued my academic career by studying for an M.Sc. in Botany at the Centre for Advance Studies in Botany, University of Madras. I was then accepted to study for a M.Phil. in Botany at the Centre for Advance Studies in Botany, University of Madras which I began in September 2017 and finished in August 2018. During M.Phil, I have worked on a project entitled “An induction of antioxidant defense responses by sodium alginate against Alternaria solani (Ellis and Martin) Sorauer in Solanum lycopersicum Linn. ” under the guidance of Dr. N. Radhakrishnan, Asst. Professor, University of Madras, the basic objectives of which were- to examine the effect of sodium alginate on the induction of antioxidant enzymes and to analyze the expression of NPR1 and PR2 (β-1,3-Glucanase) genes in tomato plant which were pre-treated with sodium alginate and infected with Alternaria solani. I have also published the research work in a peer-reviewed journal.At the University of Madras, I gained exposure to learning the techniques such as isolation of DNA & RNA, gene expression analysis, restriction digestion, electrophoresis and conventional PCR. I have mastered various electrophoresis and staining techniques. I also possess comprehensive knowledge of handling and maintaining microbial cell cultures, instruments, chemicals and reagents used in the biological laboratories. I also possess basic computer knowledge and knowledge of using statistical software like ANOVA, OriginPro, Adobe Illustrator etc.
