R&D Intern (Interventional Cardiology)Boston Scientific May 2019 - Aug 2019Maple Grove, MnDuring my summer internship, I was focused on the hemolysis workstream for a new product in development. I conducted background research to set a specification for a safe threshold of hemolysis in humans and animals. I also assisted with hemolysis testing of different iterations of the device. My next step was to identify levers in the product design that drive hemolysis. With the help of X-ray images, I was able to measure and correlate several different design features with flow and… Show more During my summer internship, I was focused on the hemolysis workstream for a new product in development. My next step was to identify levers in the product design that drive hemolysis. With the help of X-ray images, I was able to measure and correlate several different design features with flow and hemolysis. In addition to all this, I utilized my time to observe animal studies, participate in thrombosis testing, network with others in the company and explore what the company has to offer. Show less -
Summer Undergraduate Research FellowMayo Clinic Jun 2018 - Aug 2018Rochester, MnAs an undergraduate Research Fellow, I worked in Dr. Leigh Griffiths' Cardiovascular Tissue Engineering Lab on a project focused on developing antigen-free vasculature to be used as coronary artery bypass grafts (for example), that will generate a reduced immune response than current grafts. This involved understanding and fine-tuning the antigen removal process, studying the new properties of the antigen-free artery, and investigating how it interacts with the environment it will be placed… Show more As an undergraduate Research Fellow, I worked in Dr. Leigh Griffiths' Cardiovascular Tissue Engineering Lab on a project focused on developing antigen-free vasculature to be used as coronary artery bypass grafts (for example), that will generate a reduced immune response than current grafts. Undergraduate ResearchGeorgia Institute Of Technology Aug 2017 - Apr 2018Roy LabI worked on a project to manufacture antigen-specific B cells ex vivo as a form of immunotherapy by identifying the most efficient way to recreate the cell-cell signaling required for B cells to activate and expand. I performed assays related to cellular characterization (proliferation, apoptosis, flow cytometry etc.) -
Undergraduate Teaching AssistantGeorgia Institute Of Technology Aug 2017 - Dec 2017I worked as a Teaching Assistant for the introductory Biomedical Engineering class (BMED 2210). I worked as an in-class mentor, helping students learn the material by asking and answering questions, grading quizzes and, holding office hours.
