The Centre for Biodiversity Genomics (CBG) at the University of Guelph is a global leader in DNA-based approaches to specimen identification. CBG provides researchers with vast amounts of data and aims to complete the inventory of all species.• Performed literature search on machine learning related topics to discover state-of-the-art approaches to specific problems.• Independently created a pipeline to automate the annotation of insect specimen images using TensorFlow and Python. Used this pipeline to find and relabel images with incorrect insect orientation labels in the database.• Worked on creating an image recognition model for ranking insect image quality – a difficult problem because ranking relies on specimen biology as well as traditional measures of image quality.

Baron Biosystems enables cyclists to train optimally through cutting edge fitness measurements and performance predictions.• Worked on creating a statistical model in Automatic Differentiation Model Builder (ADMB) to extend the capabilities of the current core fitness model.• Performed feature additions and maintenance on the Laravel based web application using PHP, Javascript, and CSS.• Generated significant positive user feedback for creating a workout exporter to Zwift.• Authored 45 pages of documentation on all core application logic to facilitate future developer on-boarding.

During my time at Fast Office I:• Identified an inefficiency in how panoramic cube maps were generated and took the initiative to start developing an automated solution using Three.js, Java, and the Selenium WebDriver.• Met with representatives of other companies to determine possible partnership opportunities.• Independently developed a Wordpress site using my own custom plugins and Google Apps Scripts after having met with a client to understand their needs and how to provide value to them.• Provided feedback to a remote team based on my testing of Fast Office’s software.
