Head of the ICT shared service for Brent and Lewisham councils. Led the negotiations with Southwark council to join the shared service, insourcing from Capita.

Leading the ICT service for Brent Council. Successful in securing the contract for providing ICT support services to the LGA, taking over from Liberata. Negotiated with and established shared ICT service with London Borough of Lewisham, insourcing from Capita.

• Led on the delivery of IT for the new Brent Civic Centre, a project that consolidated 15 sites and 2,100 employess into a new building that achieved an “outstanding” BREEAM rating, making it the greenest public office in the UK.• Delivered a number of transformational projects supporting paperless working, mobile and home working, channel shift.• Deputy to the CIO, responsible for an IT budget of £8m, IT Procurement, Programme Management, Change Management, Service Improvement.• Member of London Connects CIO group, West London Alliance (WLA) IT group, London ICT Board.

• Introduced a TCO model for IT services, effectively achieving the consolidation of devolved IT budgets, enabling the investment necessary to implement the IT strategy.• Initiated and led the first reverse auction for Data Centres in the UK, achieving savings in excess of £1m. Sucessfully repeated the exercise for the procurement of a thin client solution for the authority, delivering a key component of our new Civic Centre.• Took a leading role in collaborative procurement, influencing others to participate to a group of 50+ organisations pooling their requirements together to achieve savings in excess of £10m. Led on producing common specifications and subsequently led the technical evaluation team for the group.• Assisted in the centralisation of IT staff across the authority into one IT department. Led on transformation project turning IT into a model for the rest of the organisation, receiving a staff award from the CEO.• Responsible for the IT budget of £8m, delivered savings for the authority in excess of £4.5m.• Responsible for Customer Services for the IT department and for the function of the IT Service Desk, providing 1st and 2nd line support to approximately 3,500 users across 60 sites and an annual average of 60,000 service calls.

• Led on a total refresh of the organisation’s infrastructure, including a new Cisco network across 60 sites, 200+ Windows servers and 3,500+ XP desktops.• Introduced Storage Area Networks and Virtualisation to Brent, addressing historical capacity issues.• Managed the transition of previously outsourced services to in-house, including Revenues & Benefits (EDS) and Brent Libraries (Dynix).• Part of the ITIL implementation team, leading on Change Management.• Responsible for the performance management and personal development of all technical staff. Leading on the evaluation and implementation of new technical solutions and the procurement of IT infrastructure, including desktops, servers and networking equipment.

• Project Manager and lead technical resource on several large projects, including the authority’s Y2k activities, migration from Novell to Windows, implementation of Active Directory.• Managed the transition of Social Services from an outsourced service with Bull to in-house.• Responsible for the performance management and personal development of technical project staff. Leading on the evaluation and implementation of new technical solutions.

• Coordination of all 1st/2nd line support, responsible for eliminating a significant backlog of fault calls and requests resulting from a major restructure of the IT department.

• 1st/2nd line support - providing cover on the IT helpdesk, dealing with hardware and software calls over the phone and on-site, working on projects and software development.
