About Chris Dolan

Academic, Activist, Consultant and Practitioner, with a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Development Studies from The London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE). Widely known as an advocate for expanding understanding of conflict-related sexual violence to include male and LGBTI survivors and the connections between different constituencies of survivor. His career has since 1992 focused on forced migration, gender and sexuality. His current research interest is in the interaction between research methods, (lack of) disclosure of traumatic experiences, and resultant distortions in the evidence base around which particular resource-mobilising discourses and institutional practices are built. As Director of Refugee Law Project for sixteen years (2006-2022) he was able to build a globally recognised centre for justice & forced migrants located in Makerere University, Kampala. As Professor in Global Sustainable Development at Warwick University, he seeks in his teaching and further research to bring insights into how conflict legacies couple with ongoing humanitarian crises to constitute major obstacles to sustainable development.
