About Dr. Joe Thomas, Msc, Phd, Frsph

Political and policy choices determine public health. Among my many Public Health Roles, as the editor-in-chief of Critical Public Health, my public health teaching and research leverage over two decades of dedication to public health advocacy and health policy dialogue. With a razor-sharp focus on health equity, my efforts have materialized into actionable insights that bridge the gap between academia and on-the-ground initiatives. The global health landscape has been my canvas, where analytical prowess and a pen have been my tools to craft narratives that empower communities, challenge and inform policymakers and mentor learners. At the Global Institute of Public Health, my tenure as a Visiting Professor is fueled by a commitment to social sciences and the study of marginalized populations. Collaborating with international leaders, ministers, and diplomats has been a cornerstone of my career. My voice, both written and spoken, echoes the collective aspirations for a healthier world—where public health is a right, not a privilege, and where every policy reflects the pulse of the people it impacts.
