As a Security Researcher, I specialize in web application firewall (WAF) technologies. My responsibilities encompass the following areas:1.Custom WAF Rules:I create and fine-tune custom rules for web application firewalls. These rules augment the core rule set (CRS) provided by the WAF platform. Custom rules allow me to tailor protection based on specific use cases, applications, and threat scenarios. Regular expressions (regex) play a crucial role in defining these rules, enabling precise pattern matching and filtering.2.Regex Rules:I mostly use regex patterns to identify and block malicious traffic. Regex rules help me detect and mitigate common attack vectors such as SQL injection, cross-site scripting (XSS), and more.3.False Positive (FP) Scans:I analyze log data generated by our customers’ WAF deployments. By conducting FP scans, I identify instances where legitimate traffic is incorrectly flagged as malicious. My goal is to minimize false positives.4.Continuous Learning:Staying informed about emerging technologies, threat actors, and proposed security standards is essential in our ever-evolving landscape. I research new attack techniques and defense mechanisms to enhance our security.
