Norma Hernandez leads the Communications and Marketing efforts of the Driving Clean Assistance Program (DCAP), a California Air Resources Board-funded clean air vehicle incentive program to help low-income Californians, especially those in underserved, Tribal and disadvantaged communities, access to clean air vehicles. She is responsible for external communications, messaging, including leading the public relations and marketing strategies for the program. Hernandez leads her own public relations and communications practice for close to a decade working with a variety of industries, including clean air vehicles, education, entertainment, public charity, multimedia, health and fitness, healthcare, diabetes prevention, and beauty categories. In this capacity, she helps clients understand consumer and media behaviors among key demographics.She is well versed in brand development, curating compelling visual narratives, and producing original content. Hernandez started her career in public relations for a leading Los Angeles Spanish-language broadcast television station, produced two public affairs programs, and award winning public service announcements in Los Angeles. Hernandez, who is also fluent in Spanish, has received multiple government and community awards throughout her professional career. She is a member of the Public Relations Society of America, former head coach for Girls on the Run Los Angeles, former preceptor mentor for undergraduate and graduate students from California State University, Northridge and California State University, Los Angeles’ Public Health Departments, and current parent volunteer at the public school her two daughters attend. She earned a B.S. in Business Management from the University of Phoenix and holds two certifications as a Master Trainer and Lifestyle Coach from the Center for Disease Control, National Diabetes Prevention Program (NDPP) something she is personally passionate about.
