I was leading the climate governance integrity programme work TI Kenya. Key achievements include;• Policy and legislation development, review and advocacy at the county, national and international level on climate change and environmental conservation. • Advocacy for transparency, accountability, participation and anti-corruption safeguards in environmental conservation, climate change and climate finance policies at different levels. • I sit in several government led climate finance oversight bodies including the National Programme Steering Committee of the Adaptation Fund, The Inter-Ministerial Technical Committee of the Green Climate Fund and The Taskforce for Anti-corruption in REDD+• Published research to support evidence-based advocacy on various topics around climate governance and climate finance.• Capacity building for different stakeholders (county and national government, civil society organizations, media and communities) on climate change and climate governance.• Fundraising with success from the German Federal Ministry of the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety (BMU), The German Federal Ministry of Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and the Danish International Development Agency (DANIDA).

Handling Carbon Asset Management for Emission Reduction Projects, Renewable Energy Projects, Energy Efficiency Projects and Waste Management and disposal projects. It involves- Preparation of Project Design Documents including research, data collection, baseline setting and client liaison- Preparation of Project Idea Notes (PINs) and carbon/renewable energy feasibility studies- Development of spreadsheet models for calculation of Emission Reductions and investment analysis- Facilitation and assistance with the validation, registration, verification and monitoring of carbon projects- Project monitoring and preparation of monitoring reports- Research on new and emerging carbon market and climate finance mechanisms- Preparation, convening and reporting of stakeholder consultation meetings- Reviewing and reporting on updates to carbon project standards- Identification and origination of carbon projects in East Africa and the wider Africa region- Collaboration with DNAs and assistance in the DNA approval process

Managed all branch operations, float, revenue, staff and stocks and supervised and coordinated the activities of junior staff. It involved completion of stock inventories, preparing daily, weekly and monthly reports to the Operations Manager and senior Executives, conducting monthly profit and loss analysis, training of new staff, re-ordering, cash accounting as well as customer service and managing complaints. I developed skills in business management, report writing, communication, planning and organization.

Kenya

I scrutinized the entire election process for purposes of determining its integrity and impartiality, with regard to organisation and administration. It included an assessment of the process and the actual formulation and enforcement of the electoral law and the role of the electoral officials, security forces and politicians before, during and after the election. It further involved monitoring, accurately recording and reporting incidents of electoral related human rights violations and malpractices during all phases of the electoral process including political party nominations, campaigns, voting, vote counting and tallying, and other electoral related events; and monitoring and documenting incidents of violence and potential conflicts threats in identified hotspots. I grew skills in research, report writing, communication, interviewing and investigation.

Cameroon

I developed a project proposal for an apiary development project. The project aimed at creating two community tree nurseries, produce 20,000 bee loving trees to develop six modern apiaries in six communities and increase honey production/honey bi-products, enhance livelihoods and mitigate climate change. These included the support of 50 hives and bee keeping equipment in each community. 619 people were direct beneficiaries 309 men, 310 women (with 170,000 inhabitants as indirect beneficiaries a majority of them women).

Kenya

Executed administrative and managerial functions and oversaw the smooth running of the secretariat and the organisations projects. Some notable achievements during my tenure include; planning and implementing a major community service project in Malindi and Watamu dubbed RIOT (Righteous Invasion of Towns); initiated a weekly lottery where the proceeds go towards supporting a children’s home in Nairobi’s Majengo slums called Foundation for Orphaned Children (FOC). I represented the organisation in international UN and MUN conferences in Kenya, Malaysia and South Korea.

I worked in the following programmes;  Participatory Forest Management and Natural Forest Rehabilitation-This was a research on the aspects of community participation in forest management. It was aimed to develop a sustainable framework for community participation in the management of natural forest resources, tackling of complex management issues, such as empowering local communities to manage forests through community forest associations, benefit sharing, stock valuation and pricing. I was involved in a project to rehabilitate Muguga forest with the local community. Plant Taxonomy-Under this programme, I worked on identifying, collecting, Research-I worked in the following research projects:o Determining the best storage media for tree seeds using indigenous tree seeds obtained from various regions of the country.o Payment for environmental services and payment for water services in the African and Global context and applicability in Kenya, the concept and steps involved. o I was also trained on participatory learning approaches and project monitoring and evaluation.  Tree seed collection, extraction and handling-Under the Kenya Forestry Seed Centre, I was involved in identifying suitable seed sources, tree seed collection, extraction, testing and dispatching to produce quality tree seeds. Programme on Osyris lanceolata-This was a research aiming to establish the most desirable propagation method and finding a suitable host for the parasitic plant.  I was involved in drafting a Participatory Forest Management Grass Root Training Manual to be used in enhancing capacity of local implementers.

Kenya

I was charged with taking conference notes and tabulating data from countrywide field research under the KHRC minorities programme. My research notes and data have been used in a KHRC study titled “The Outlawed Amongst Us” (published in January 2011). It also involved facilitating civic education on the proposed constitution of Kenya, 2010.

Kenya

This was a research on violence against women, child rights abuses and victim’s accessibility to justice in communities within Kenya and Uganda. It addressed the law on sexual and gender based violence (domestic violence including marital rape) and other crimes against women and children, including in the context of customary practices. It also gave an insight on the role of police, medical practitioners, prosecutorial and judicial officers in arresting, prosecuting and sentencing of perpetrators.

Kenya

Dealt with diagnosis and repair of computer hardware and software; advertising, sales and marketing of computers and computer accessories; and training and supervision of new staff. It also involved conducting weekly and monthly stock takes and ensuring adequate supply of accessories.
