I handle patent prosecution and advice work across a broad spectrum of technologies in the physical sciences. My technical areas of expertise include processor technologies, communication systems, software and computer implemented inventions, automotive technologies, and medical devices. I also handle oppositions before the European Patent Office.I work closely with my clients, offering an “in-house” level of service to companies of all sizes. Working in this way, I help both start-ups and multinationals to efficiently capture and protect their intellectual property.In relation to more general intellectual property issues, a significant part of my work involves assessing third-party infringement risks and advising clients on the enforcement of their IP. To this end I have prepared numerous infringement and validity opinions for both European and US clients. On the transactional side, I advise on licensing and have a particular interest in Open Source software and its associated licensing issues.
