I am a designer, consultant, and teacher who gets up every morning to bring creativity, rigor, and humanity to problem-solving. I'm the CEO and a designer at Harmonic Design, a service design firm based in Atlanta, GA, with an amazing team of designers located across the US. Before co-founding Harmonic Design, I practiced independently under the name "studioPQ," and was Managing Director at Adaptive Path and Head of Service Design at Capital One. As a leader and practitioner, I place a premium on pushing design practice to be more value-centered, collaborative, and iterative. This philosophy and its practical applications are explored in Orchestrating Experiences: Collaborative Design for Complexity (Rosenfeld, 2018), which I co-authored with Chris Risdon.Throughout my career, I have worked with organizations desiring to transform their products and services to better meet the needs of people. Along with getting hands-on with my clients, I have directed teams of experience and service designers charged with disrupting business-as-usual practices and infusing human-centered mindsets and behaviors into organizations. I've worked in every industry you can think of, but particularly love working at the intersection of physical and virtual environments.In addition to consulting, I speak on and teach design regularly. I have taught thousands of practitioners in North America and Europe on topics such as service design, design strategy, design research, interaction design, and information architecture. My other passions—storytelling, film studies, improv, and music—often find their way into my design work.
