Leading Applied Behavioural Science (LABS) is the social impact/not-for-profit arm of LABS Innovation, and its purpose is to increase the reach of the initiatives we develop with those who could benefit most, including schools and public sector organisations.We have made it our mission to create effective, affordable, realistic and evidence based solutions that you can use in your environment to tackle some of the biggest issues we face today, including our relationship with food and taking care of our planet.

Food Dudes is an award winning social enterprise that applies the science of behaviour change to improve children’s health and wellbeing with a focus on increasing fruit and vegetable consumption. The Food Dudes team includes some of the world’s leading behavioural scientists and is based on over 20 years of research at Bangor University. To date, Food Dudes has been implemented in over 3,500 primary schools, nurseries and special schools and the programmes have positively impacted more than 700,000 children globally.During my time at Food Dudes I was part of a team of like minded, driven and enthusiastic people who were passionate about changing children's lives via a high quality evidence based programme that truly makes a difference. I was a driving force behind taking Food Dudes from a research project based at Bangor University to being rolled out on a large scale and being widely recognised as an exceptional programme. My role was engaging and varied and included the following:- Identified and personally secured over £2 million of funding- Built relationships and reputation for Food Dudes with partners, industry bodies, schools and commissioners in the NHS and Local Authorities- Networked and developed partnerships across sectors- Developed promotional materials and multimedia including facilitating capturing our award winning work with ITV and the BBC- Project managed the flagship accounts including costing, proposals, tender applications, planning, overseeing delivery and finances, reporting and account renewals- Managed programme delivery with a team of 9 staff- Represented Food Dudes at steering groups, committees, networks and advisory groups- Identified opportunities, developed and delivered presentations and training at conferences, seminars and workshops- Developed and evaluated new evidence based behaviour change programmes- Applied for, and won, three awards recognising the achievements of the team and the impact of the programme

Worked with Learning for Public Health to increase the standard, range and availability of public health training in the West Midlands, in order to improve the health of the region’s population.

I was commissioned by Learning for Public Health and the Department of Health to lead a project to produce a series of eight briefing papers to tackle the wider determinants of health. The briefing papers were developed using best available local and national evidence, they highlight good and effective practice and act as a legacy of the extensive range of work done to date across the West Midlands. The titles of the series of briefing papers are as follows:- Planning, Transport and Health- Housing and Health- Environment and Health- Economy, Skills and Health- Culture, Leisure and Health- Safer and Stronger Communities- Children, Young People and Families- Later LifeThey are available to download from the Learning for Public Health website.

Conducted a literature search and analysed and interpreted data for a Childhood Obesity and Healthy Weight Needs Assessment. I presented the findings to others and made evidence based recommendations for commissioners in order to tackle childhood obesity and promote healthy weight.

I was commissioned by Learning for Public Health and the Department of Health to conduct an evaluation of the numerous Communities for Health led projects across local areas in the West Midlands. The evaluation is available to download from the Learning for Public Health website.

Whilst working at a GP Surgery I problem solved, increased efficiency, improved the service to patients, worked to achieve QOF targets, collaborated with the Patients' Association, developed website and email systems, designed and delivered training programmes for administrative and clinical staff, conducted audits, influenced policy and practice and applied health psychology theory to practice.

Led a group of volunteers in order to teach children school subjects at a voluntary educational project. Also taught people from the local community English and how to avoid preventable diseases.
