Peter White has a passion for genomics and translational bioinformatics. His research program at Nationwide Children's Hospital focuses on developing disruptive technologies to rapidly analyze and interpret genomic data sets. As head of the Computational Genomics Group, he leads a team of bioinformatics scientist, data scientist and software engineers that develop highly optimized solutions to address the substantial processing, networking and big data challenges arising from genomic science. He has received international recognition for his work in rare and as yet to be diagnosed genetic disease, and is discovering novel genetic mechanisms in multiple diseases, such as pediatric cancer, congenital heart disease and neurological disorders. In his role as Senior Director in The Institute for Genomic Medicine, Peter has established multiple genomics initiatives as part of Nationwide Children's strategic goal to develop a cutting-edge genomic medicine program. As developer and inventor of the balanced parallelization strategy for human genome analysis (named “Churchill”), Peter is a co-founder of GenomeNext LLC.
