During my time in the Kubiak Group at UCSD, I focused on the air-sensitive chemistry of nickel trimers and testing the reactivity of several trinuclear nickel cluster "caps" with common gasses, readily available in the air we breathe. My role was to synthesize, characterize using NMR and X-ray Crystallography, and explore the reactivity of these clusters.

Starting as a summer intern, I was trained in small molecule X-ray crystallography with a particular emphasis on organic and inorganic molecules. During my time at the facility, I worked largely with faculty and graduate students from UCSD and The Scripps Research Institute, in addition to several pharmaceutical companies.
