The outdoors is what brought me to Western North Carolina. Being in an area with pro-environmental views provides the perfect location for a driven environmental science student to learn and thrive.Months of team undergraduate research on land use history's effect on hydrologic pathways required blood, sweat, and tears and was rewarded with an abstract publication and invaluable field experience.Over ten years of customer service and networking experience advanced my soft skills and team building ingenuity throughout my career. Combining my knowledge in research and my social skills, I was able to bridge different aspects of a campus living to relevant topics such as water scarcity, food insecurity, recycling and much more.Environmental science’s interdisciplinary nature allowed me to be involved with organizations and projects that encompassed many differing fields. With knowledge necessary to develop a more sustainable future on a college campus, I helped spread environmentally conscious ideas and implemented positive changes on campus such as our first solar panel farm and freshmen recycling program. I want to reach-out and educate people of the importance of clean water, energy, and sustainability in both English and Spanish. When I MC’ed for Western Carolina University’s second annual “Trashion Show”, I connected the importance of recycling with community engagement; all while wearing my stylish ankle boot and crutches.If you need a positive and outgoing individual to conduct groundwater research, I'll bring my own waders!
