Contributing to the American Jesuit Colleges and Universities (AJCU) Laudato Si’ project, focusing on campus climate change commitments, carbon accounting data analysis, and website design to create a data dashboard. Also working on the Student Basic Needs Action Research Project at SCU to address food insecurity within the student body.

The Recruitment Coordinator is in charge of recruiting new talent to the Into The Wild leadership by spearheading the leader-in-training (LIT) interview process and overseeing the committee in charge of the new leader decision process.Hold information meetings regarding application process, contribute to the advertisement of the leader-in-training application, review applications, create and conduct group and individual interviews, organize and oversee the recruitment committee through the new LIT decision process, and welcome new trainees. As LIT recruiter I maintain transparency with all applicants through all stages of the application process in a prompt, appropriate, and polite manner. The job of the Outreach Coordinator is to facilitate events pertaining to the ideals of Into the Wild for the campus community. Outreach Coordinator must establish the presence of Into the Wild on campus to promote the mission of the organization.As Outreach coordinator I planned and oversee 3 set activities per quarter during the academic year (12 in total). These events are marketed well ahead of time bringing 30+ students to events. As Outreach coordinator I work side-by-side with the administrative assistant of the Center for Student Leadership, Media Services, Facilities, and the organization advisor to ensure reservations are made when required as well as the Director of Marketing to effectively advertise events to the student body.

As the Sustainability and Nutrition Coordinator, I was in charge of managing Into the Wild’s carbon footprint and ensuring we lived up to our standards of Leave No Trace (LNT). Sustainability is a key part of our CSO Charter and founding documents and integral to the overall mission of Into the Wild. I continued to emphasize and ensure all leaders are embodying what it means to be sustainable both on campus and off campus, as well as on and off club trips/activities.I was in charge of coordinating with trip leaders and creating an infrastructure to streamline and enforce sustainable action on trips. I was also in charge of coordinating the offsetting ITW’s carbon footprint, which help us to operate as close to net carbon neutral as possible.

Into the Wild provides students with opportunities to get off campus and explore California’s wilderness. Every week are organized trips for all skill levels that include hiking, backpacking, snow camping, rock climbing, kayaking, rafting, surfing, and more.Paid position requiring completion of quarter-long Leader-In-Training (LIT) course (minimum 4 hours per week).Plan and lead a minimum of one overnight trip and one day trip per quarter.Led backpacking trip to Stanislaus National Forest May, 2021 and backpacking trip for incomingfreshmen to Lake Tahoe September, 2022.Managed all student gear rentals for the organization and assisted with weekly mandatory tablingfor trip sign ups.Attended weekly leadership team meetings and quarterly leadership retreats.Encouraged education in environmentally sustainable practices in the wilderness.

As an Ignatian Fellow, I will work with a non for-profit as an intern while coordinating with the Santa Clara University Ignatian Center. My placement is at Garden to Table Silicon Valley where we run an urban farm to create a sustainable, local food system that builds community, improves access to healthy foods, and teaches residents to cultivate their own fruits, vegetables, and herbs.
