I have just recently graduated from Vanderbilt University with an M.Ed in Learning and Design. This program focused on learning theory and how to design environments and curricula that support learning. Specifically, I focused on non-traditional education. Given my interest in this particular area, I was able to craft my studies accordingly. I created an independent study focusing on museum learning. I went to different museums and observed their education departments to see how they partnered with other educators. My capstone/thesis project also revolved around how children engage in art museums. Working with the Frist Museum in Nashville, TN, I designed a facilitation guide focusing on how art museums can take steps to make gallery spaces more accessible to their visitors.
