Prepared and executed loan lending and technical assistant projects for urban transport, intelligent transport systems, transport ICT (Information Communication Technology), rural roads, and aviation. Led data analysis work on public transport, accessibility, economic, and financial issues.

Project - Future Mobility collaborating with Singapore Government* Develop an activity based integrated simulation system to model urban metabolism (energy, pollution, consumption, traffic, etc.) in order to measure and predict urban management requirements.* Develop new data collection and data fusion methods using vehicle GPS, cell phones, etc. to better capture, integrate and model real-time activity data.* Design the vertical integration structure of three different model frameworks, including micro, meso and macroscopic.* Organize the whole research team, forming the overall structure and development plan for the entire project.Mentor and oversee the research progress of graduate students and research assistants.

Soft Measurement Technology for Urban Traffic Network Program* Led a federally funded research project supported by the National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC). * Proposed the “Distribution Coefficient Matrix” model for urban traffic network. * Analyzed the features and revolution of the traffic network status for Beijing based on real traffic flow data. * Led and organized the research team, overseeing the research of 6 graduate students and delegated research tasks.Mass Traffic Information Management System Project* Designed the structure of the traffic information management system based on an analysis of the statistical features of the real traffic flow data.* Developed the traffic data compression algorithm based on Principal Component Analysis, and the missing-data compensation algorithm for traffic flow data based on Probabilistic Principal Component Analysis.

* Developed a traffic simulation that accounts for the reaction of drivers to dissimulated traffic data via GPS, radio ,etc., in order to predict real-time dynamic traffic behavior.* Collaborated with traffic managers to enhance traffic management and planning strategies based on daily traffic patterns and phenomenon.* Coordinated the research progress of 2 MIT research assistants and acted as a liaison with Transport for London.
