Profile bio

About Robert Staszewski

I am a problem solver at heart. Finding a solution to an operational or technology problem is what keeps me up at night and gets me out of bed in the morning. I am passionate about identifying operations that can be made more efficient or automated completely using software solutions. For the past 17 years I have been Head of Ecommerce/Managing Director (and founder) of Macfixit Australia. My career was born out of a passion for new technology. After spending a number of years working in IT sales and technical support in Australia and the UK, I was eager to be a part of the emerging world of web-based business. In 2006 I identified a gap in the ecommerce marketplace to provide IT related products to the growing Apple market. The ability to turn an idea into reality is one of my strengths and I set about creating Australia’s first online retailer of third-party Apple compatible products. With the online marketplace still in its infancy, I built Macfixit’s first website from the ground up, quickly acquiring the new skills and knowledge I needed.Over the 17 years that followed, I set up the systems and processes that enabled the business to grow and succeed in the ever more competitive world of ecommerce.Outgrowing the capabilities of the first website after the first few years, I lead the projects to migrate the online store first to the Magento platform and then more recently to the Shopify Plus platform in 2022.Through each of these processes I also worked together with SEO specialists to ensure the impact on sales during the migration period was minimised. Each website migration provided an opportunity to identify and integrate new IT solutions to improve efficiencies across the business including inventory management, order processing, customer support and marketing.Being part of an IT start-up has given me a unique perspective and set of skills across all areas of an ecommerce business from technical implementations to integrations with third-party systems. My Strengths:Strong commercial mindset to maximise conversions & online revenueDay-to-day operations of an ecommerce store (including pricing, inventory, procurement, and purchasing)Optimising website performanceIdentifying/troubleshooting ecommerce challengesIntegrating software solutions to improve efficiency (including digital marketing)Testing to optimise solutions & improve performanceContract negotiation and tender management.Digital transformation in a retail settingExtensive knowledge of ecommerce platforms & tools (Shopify, Magento, Google Analytics, SEO, email)
