I was responsible for developing and implementing communications and engagement strategies, plans and supporting activities in line with national priorities and the department’s strategic agenda. I worked closely with colleagues within the wider comms division, policy and programme leads, ALB counterparts and external organisations nurturing and maintaining a strong network of trusted people. It was important to work as part of the team to ensure that all messaging, announcements, publications and supporting activity was timed/planned to coincide with broader strategic messaging so as to tell a coherent, joined up story to maximise impact. • During this time I also led on the department’s channels strategy, ensuring we were keeping pace with the ever-changing needs and expectations of our audiences (set within the confines of public sector budgets). I have sourced and managed various pieces of research, drawing on insight to understand better our audiences communications preferences and led on a number of initiatives to deliver new or improved channels to meet user needs. This included the development and management of a content planner, based around the department’s channels to track the timing and flow of communications activity across programmes, strategic and corporate announcements. • I had strategic oversight of the intranet and led the content team across planning, editorial and production, continuing an agile approach to the development of the site. During this time, I managed a further iteration of the homepage launched February 2016, which saw user satisfaction rates rise from 27% under the old intranet, to 77% (measured quarterly). Show less
