About Rachael Chambers

Rachael Chambers is an emergency management professional with a background spanning advocacy, public affairs, research, and communications. Rachael has been a fervent supporter of a number of causes; in her undergraduate years, she honed her environmental activism and social responsibility interests working in Washington, D.C., and while studying abroad in Freiburg, Germany, and Geneva, Switzerland. She also served the office of U.S. Senator Elizabeth Warren in the first 100 days of the new administration following the 2016 election.Rachael has worked in a mix of nonprofit and government bodies to address community access to public goods and services. Immediately after graduation, she worked for San Francisco tech nonprofit Caravan Studios, which compiles Apps for Public Good and works to develop mobile applications. There, she helped to produce a report highlighting the demographics of confirmed trafficking cases throughout 2016 with recommendations for emergency and long-term housing, youth involvement in future legislation, and coordinated community responses to trauma-informed care. Alongside her work at the department, she served as an intern for the Office of US Senator Kamala Harris, which informed her work on a national level as it applied to San Francisco’s concerns about immigration, sanctuary cities, and policy-making. She graduated with her Master of Science in Public Policy and Management from Carnegie Mellon University's Heinz College of Public Policy and Information Systems in 2020.
