I started out my career in commercial law, but after facing my own lived experience with disability, I felt called to change careers. I have worked since 2017 in disability rights where I hope to contribute in a positive way to achieving more equal rights and opportunities for persons with disabilities.I started briefly as a support worker before beginning my journey with the Rights, Information and Advocacy Centre (RIAC). In my current role as NDIS Appeals and Systemic Advocacy Manager, I lead the team to support people living with disability to build their own self-advocacy skills and enact systemic change to advance the rights of people living with disability. I also contributed from 2020-2022 to the City of Greater Geelong Access & Inclusion Advisory Committee, which aims to improve community outcomes for those with barriers to inclusion. I also currently support a group of young people with disability to build their confidence and connection with others through physical activity.To enhance my technical knowledge and curiosity of human rights, I am currently enjoying completing a Masters in Human Rights Law at Melbourne University.I love connecting, collaborating and learning from people with diverse backgrounds and abilities and I believe everyone’s story is valuable and has something special to offer.
