On summer weekends and throughout the offseason, I take on projects around the farm, feed and take care of up to 36 horses and other farm animals, supervise young riders and visitors, maintain the barn, and ensure that all operations run smoothly. Often, I am either the only or one of a small number of employees on the property, which requires sharp observation skills and an ability to efficiently solve problems.

For two summers, I have worked as a group supervisor for a group of 12 children during which I would successfully maintain a positive and upbeat attitude, organize eight activities each day with sparse direction, communicate with parents, address behavioral issues, and ensure camper safety, which was complicated further by the COVID-19 pandemic. Each day, either on my own or with a co-instructor, I lead activities in swimming, horseback riding and equine management, archery, ropes/adventure courses, nature, arts and crafts, sports, and performing arts. I have worked with children with a wide variety of needs, abilities and ages, and have adapted each day to their needs and safety. Various obstacles have come up, during which I have thought on my feet to create an enjoyable experience for all campers.
