Teaching English as a Foreign Language to 11-17 year olds.

As a teaching assistant at the University of Manitoba, I was responsible for teaching seminars on rhetoric and writing several times a week, holding office hours to assist students with work outside of the classroom, grading student work, and exam invigilation.In order to conduct the class effectively, I had to prepare lesson plans, powerpoint presentations, and worksheets for students outside of my teaching hours. I attended weekly meetings with the instructor to discuss course material, the structure of my lessons, and student progress. In addition to my teaching, I had to keep a detailed record of student attendance, grades, and calculate averages at the end of each term.

In this role, I was responsible for cataloguing and storing the student printmaking collection at the University of Manitoba. My responsibilities included creating a digital database, and archival storage for a collection that dated back to the inauguration of the School of Art at the University of Manitoba in 1950. This role required significant attention to detail, a detailed knowledge of archival techniques as well as the history of the printmaking program at the University.During this project I worked largely independently and reported to the supervising professor regularly to update him on my progress. Over the course of nine months I catalogued the prints from the decades 1950 and 1980 using a metadata coding system. I ensured that the prints and catalogue were organised in such a way that future archivists and researchers would be able to easily access the collection.

Duties included assisting customers place orders, processing transactions, filling custom orders (this included customizing garments using direct printing technologies and embroidery), tidying the store, setting up and taking down displays, restocking shelves and organizing stock, inventory, unpacking shipments, and opening and closing the store.I was also responsible for training new staff, organizing the schedule, and was a key holder from August 2005 onward.
