RACHEL JOHNSON is not simply a wardrobe stylist. She has built a prestigious career that spans two decades on being a shape shifter. She transforms celebrity images, stretching them broader. She engineers culture. The statuesque style savant is credited for imbuing high fashion into the sphere of professional sports. Through tireless study and exceptional vision, she has increased the wattage of icons like Lebron James, Serena Williams and Colin Kaepernick. Outside of sports she has given everyone from Diddy to Jamie Foxx to Pharrell to Jay-Z her Midas touch. Her work has been featured in Vogue, GQ, Vanity Fair, ESPN the Magazine and The New York Times Styles section, to name a few. She has adorned clients for the Oscars, Grammy's, ESPYs and MET Gala. It is why brands like NIKE, Coca Cola and Audemars Piguet seek her counsel; why she is able to establish partnerships with the Ralph Lauren’s, Hennessy’s and Hugo Boss’s of the world.RACHEL's eclectic style and effortless flair developed at an early age growing up in Englewood, New Jersey. She began dressing others during her years at Florida A&M University. Once she graduated, she moved to New York City and dove directly into her dream career. The upstart excelled as a paid intern for iconic African-American stylists Sybil Pennix and June Ambrose. She paid her dues for the next decade and eventually found her niche and her own agency The Thomas Faison Group. During a time when football players and high fashion were viewed as oil and water and NBA players were struggling with a mandated dress code, it was Rachel who emancipated “get fresh” restriction on body types other stylists found difficult to dress. Her goal has been clear ever since: Increase inclusion in the world of fashion.RACHEL’s modus operandi is find the look that fits the size of both body and persona. A voracious researcher and lover of monochromatic, she has the incomparable ability to carry a client’s style outside of the box while remaining true to their uniqueness. And the results are undeniable: In April 2008, she styled the first Black man to be ever featured on the cover of Vogue: Lebron James. The following decade, she would dress Colin Kaepernick for his GQ Man of the Year cover. She has three clients whom have made Vanity Fair’s Best Dressed List at least twice. The dark chocolate Jersey girl with the eye for West African flavor has had at least one client on Vanity Fair’s Best Dressed List for the past four years. No wonder she’s revered as “The American Fashion Fairy Godmother.”
