In this role as a JLARC research analyst intern, I researched recreational boating programs in Washington. I conducted rigorous research, created data-driven policy recommendations, and worked collaboratively across teams to ensure the accuracy and effectiveness of each project.

In this role I have conducted policy research and analysis for natural resource planning, a budget analysis to identify strategies to fund a new program, and development of a pro bono legal service for members.

As a research assistant for Professor Cory Struthers I have collaborated with the research team to develop a coding schematic to categorize policy types by intent, action, and lobby interests for the California Legislature.

I am currently on the team for the Jones + Foster Accelerator program at the Foster School of Business. In this role I have provided mentorship and advising in the fields of sustainability and ESG impact. I also manage social media marketing and assist with sales, events, marketing, and production.

The role of sustainability coordinator is all encompassing. On a daily basis I engage with departments and organizations across campus to develop sustainability strategies that engage students, faculty, and staff as well as community members and organizations. I do this through program development and event planning and management. My role is also in charge of ESG reporting, data tracking, and keeping up to date on certifications for Salmon Safe, AASHE STARS, pollinators, stormwater, and groundskeeping. In this role I have to be dynamic, flexible, organized, and collaborative in order to build capacity for sustainability initiatives on campus.

As an intern for the UW Climate Impacts Group, I worked with NOAA scientists on the Northwest Climate Resilience Collaborative RISA Program. My internship is focused on the Rural Community Resilience Portfolio, which helps rural communities develop capacity building strategies for adapting to climate change. I conducted research for the Rural Communities Resilience Portfolio, including background research on the community governance dynamics, demographics, and stakeholders. I then synthesized my research into multiple forms of communication including research documents, presentations, and a webpage. I curated two 20-page research documents, conducted a climate vulnerability assessment for the community we identified to collaborate with, and created a series of presentations for internal and external communications about the project.

I was project manager of a remote field experiment measuring snowpack accumulation and ablation in different forest densities. I also conducted interview-based research on the intersections of Indigenous forestry practices and ecological forestry. Finally, I audited the organization’s social media accounts and provided suggestions for increasing engagement. In this role, I successfully managed a complex project and synthesized my research into a 24-page academic paper and a 5-minute public presentation.

I worked independently to collect and process water samples at recreation sites along the Columbia River to keep the community informed about E.Coli contamination and water safety. I managed my time effectively to collect, process, and publish the results in a 24-hour window.

In this position I worked with a talented group of professionals who are volunteering to achieve the common vision of establishing a national Museum and Center for Service in Washington, D.C. My contributions included stakeholder engagement, funding research and development, and database management using the CRM system Bloomerang.

I participated in phone banking, event organizing, lobbying, and voter registration for each campaign including Get Out the Vote, 100% Renewable Electricity, and Clean Cars 2030. I also helped collect petitions through relational organizing and tabling and research relevant constituencies for policy targets. I wrote letters to the editor for local newspapers in support of candidates/legislation and was published on several occasions.

I curated social media content weekly, made hundreds of phone calls daily, and led research and outreach to potential supporters at the individual, business, and city council levels. Outreach included researching businesses and local government officials who would potentially sign on to support the bill for 100% renewable energy in Washington, reaching out to make their acquaintance, and following up with progress reports. I also helped organize three successful town hall meetings in communities around Seattle and personally gathered over 300 petition signatures.
