Reporting directly to the CEO and as part of the senior management team this role covers a wide finance remit including fund raising, leading M&A activity alongside the CEO, ownership for internal and external reporting, including month end accounts and year end stats, manage all company’s tax compliance and maintaining and improving accounting and reporting systems, ensuring they are developed and utilised to their full potential. The business was sold to Airhop in January 2023. I worked alongside the CEO on the sale of the business and was fundamental to the successful exit.

I am responsible for managing the responsibilities of the Finance function and overseeing the core operational productivity of the Finance team (team of 4). EPI provides seismic QA/QC consultancy services to the oil and gas industry, and as a result my role deals with financial complications of working overseas including tax, foreign currencies and overseas compliance. This has been a great role in developing my skillset to include the complications that come with trading in overseas territories including effective tax planning and setting up new entities overseas, which is one particular area of the role that I am hugely enjoying!

A Private equity backed company that subsequently was involved in a MBO, I worked at Apogee for a period of 2 years, as a Financial Controller. This was my first role in which I had direct responsibility in managing a team (9). The role allowed me to grow my Excel skills and integration with other software packages so that I was able to implement great improvements in the efficiency of the Finance team. I was also able to assist in the acquisition of other companies including due diligence and the integration process. Equally I gained experience in the disposal of some non-core services the company was providing including liaising with the lawyers to agree the legal elements and other operational aspects of the disposal.

A private equity based global engineering consultancy services provider to Blue chip clients including the largest banks worldwide. With a turnover of £26m, my role here allowed me to gain considerable experience in a range of Finance disciplines. Operating mainly within EMEA countries, the company also branched out into India, Australia and New York and Singapore, during my time with the company. I was responsible for the entire group consolidated accounting (trading and holding groups) and finance related compliance issues including exposure to overseas compliance and foreign exchange. My role was also involved in some areas of contract management including aiding the project managers and bid teams in areas of financial support.

I worked at HS Works Ltd for 2 years, starting my work life as Assistant Management Accountant for a period of 6 months, after which I was promoted to Management Accountant. My role was solely responsible for producing monthly management accounts packages for the 3 companies within the group with a turnover of approximately £40m. Clients included large utilities and construction companies some of which where Thames water, Clancy Dowcra, SGN. It was a great experience from which I gained a great level of understanding mainly I was able to develop my management accounting skills, especially project accounting under IAS11.

The offices and location were great and there was a really fun atmosphere working here. I really loved the media 'vibe' of the company!

This was a sole accounting and admin role including the payroll administration and was to be the incremental role in putting me on the path of my Accountancy career. I really enjoyed learning all aspects of bookkeeping and construction related compliance like the CIS scheme. It was the driver in my choice of career and led me to want to be in a bigger company where I was able to learn more from other people with more experience in my chosen subject matter. LMS worked on projects including the O2 arena.
