Implemented process improvement measures in the Environmental Planning Division as related to the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA). Such measures, as pursuant to Mayor Ed Lee’s Executive Directive 17-02, included improvements to the Consultant Guidelines document for environmental review procedures, standardizing Mitigation Monitoring and Reporting Program (MMRP) documents, creating standard operating procedures for permit and project intake processes, and creating project schedule templates (using MS Project) for Community Plan Exemptions, Mitigated Negative Declarations, and Environmental Impact Reports. I presented my findings and recommendations to the planning department as a whole at the end of my internship. Some other minor tasks included using GIS to map various projects, and completing MMRPs for smaller projects.

Created a cohesive aerial property map of the County using Geographic Information Systems (GIS) for use in property appraisal and assessment. This involved scanning and georeferencing the County’s aerial images from various years to create multiple cohesive layers that display changes in the County’s properties over time.
