Began as an on call lab assistant in Surgical Pathology accessioning patient specimens and maintaining lab cleanliness and organization. Learned how to properly use a cryostat for frozen section specimens with pathologists giving initial result within 20 minutes from receiving the specimen. Familiarized with reagent and tissue handling and disposal. May 2018 became a full time lab assistant in Histology; working in the biopsy room, processing room, and main histology lab. Continuing to use skills learned in Surgical Pathology as well as acquired further knowledge on the process in the pathology department. Learned how to use and maintain different tissue processors and automatic stainer. Tray up routine and recut slides for pathologists ensuring representation and accuracy. Maintain logs for emergency eyewash and shower stations. Available to help technicians with block retrieval, basic device maintenance, print work lists, prepare water baths, clean embedding cryoblock and melt blocks. Continue to work with the cryostat for DIF skin samples cutting 12 slides with three sections each and cryostat maintenance. Learned how to use a Leica slide scanner to digitize slides for pathologists.Communicate between departments to get resources where they are needed and to ensure quality care. Selected to be a Kaizen caregiver representative to improve processes through out the lab. Collect feedback from caregivers and relayed changes that were happening.

With in three months I was signed off to make media and to work weekend shift alone. As a media technician I prepare 40 media in different volumes and frequencies. In the lab, prepare and test samples for microbial presence and growth by implementing FDA, USP, AOAC, and VIP methodologies. Also train new coworkers in media technician responsibilities and lab testing.

A part time waitress at a women's club in downtown Portland. Serve food to four tables a meal in a formal environment for club members. There are one to two meals served a day as well as formal events, such as weddings, possible on weekends.

A temporary position working with the extension office with county fair related work. Work settings were both in the extension office and at the Washington County Fairgrounds. Printed, copied, and organized thousands of documents for use by members and volunteers. Organized and cleaned the fair office for use by employees. Gave payments to 200 4-H members for their fair premiums.Interacted with the public to answer questions and provide resources.
