Lyra Music is a non-profit organization dedicated to enriching lives and building community through the study and appreciation of classical music. The three main components of the Lyra Music program are designed to work synergistically towards the goals of training young musicians and building audiences and community through world-class concerts and free outreach programs. The Lyra Music Young Artist Performance Program is a 2-week conservatory-style classical music summer program for intermediate and advanced string players and pianists ages 11-18, in residence at the Storm King School in Cornwall-on-Hudson, NY each summer. Students work on solo and chamber ensemble repertoire in an intensive, supportive environment where they can focus on musical development, performance, and personal growth through individually tailored curriculum in a non-competitive setting.The Lyra Music Festival is an outstanding series of summer classical music events including master classes and world class performances by internationally recognized guest artists produced in and around the Hudson Valley, NY.The Lyra Music Youth Competition provides stimulating competition experience for rising young classical musicians, enhancing a vibrant youth music education scene in and around the East Coast and New England.

Facilitate on-line psycho-educational support groups for cancer patients, cancer survivors, family caregivers and the bereaved.

Lectures, workshops and trainings for healthcare professionals on issues regarding communication with patients and families, psycho-social aspects of patient care, working with diverse populations, stress management and burn-out prevention. Psycho-educational lectures and workshops on topics such as: survivorship, tools for coping, grieving and healing after loss, and issues related to long-term caregiving for people living with acute, chronic or life-threatening illness, caregivers and the bereaved.Blogger and moderator for The Oncology Nurse Community online at www.theonc.org.

Develop, coordinate, and implement programs and services for cancer patients, cancer survivors and family caregivers (newly diagnosed to end-stage illness and the bereaved); deliver crisis intervention and supportive psychotherapy to above; conduct psycho-educational support groups for above.Design and teach professional development course for transitional-year medical interns focusing on psycho-social aspects of patient care; facilitate bi-weekly psycho-educational support group for medical house staff; coordinate and facilitate weekly support groups for M-12 in-patient nursing staff; supervise social work student fellows.Serve as coordinator of 2002 Caregiver Initiative Project. Serve on hospital ethics committee Fall 1999-Summer 2002.

Deliver crisis intervention and supportive counseling to Division of AIDS Services clients with a broad range of pervasive mental illnesses and co-morbid chemical dependency; develop and implement individualized service plans targeted to linking clients with community-based organizations; work clinically with clients to overcome barriers to services; collaborate with service providers to facilitate referrals and monitor clients’ progress; conduct case presentations.
