In this position, I managed a team of six reporters on a bi-weekly paper. My specialist areas were health, crime and court reporting. Many of my stories were followed up by the nationals, ranging from a date rape court case to the story of a woman who came face to face with the murderer of Peter Falconio in the Australian Outback.

As part of a small reporting team, I was responsible for writing and bringing in news and showbiz stories for a specific, lads mag style market.The role was very much out of my comfort zone, having only worked on a local newspaper before but I quickly adapted to this, building up a network of contacts who provided me with stories which were followed up by other publications and led to me being headhunted by the News of the World.
