I do journalism at Patch.com covering local news on the coast of Los Angeles County.My innate curiosity for the world around me has led to some of the most rewarding moments in my career that I am proud of. For example, a TikTok video showcasing a type of plastic pollution I'd never heard of led me to do my own research on nurdles. My article about how nurdles impact the coast of California brought more exposure to the issue and I featured in the PBS show Sustaining US to tell more people about them.I have reported on a variety of topics from ocean conservation issues, local news, music festivals and large events like the Long Beach Grand Prix. I love to tell stories and contribute to the things I'm passionate about.I started reporting at Cuesta Community College in San Luis Obispo in January 2017. I then transferred to California State University, Long Beach where I joined the student publication the Daily Forty-Niner and worked my way up to Managing Editor for the publication.I also was a part of EdSource’s very first student journalist corps doing reporting and writing on higher education across the state of California. At the corps, I was one of the first students to publish a news story for the publication entirely worked on by student journalists about the difficulties of the COVID-19 pandemic on homeless college students.
