Began as a volunteer and worked up to become a crew lead for restoration projects. Identification and removal of invasive species along the Duwamish River Greenbelt, planting of diverse native species. Leading large workparties at big volunteer events.

Greater Seattle Area

Lead the expansion of the UW Student Farm into a new .5 acre space. Forged a MOU with Seattle Tilth and the UW Botanical Gardens, communicated with potential buyers, and conducted the first sales of farm produce to UW's Housing and Food Services and Medical Center farmer's market. Managed a grant budget of nearly $80,000 and participated in project planning for a new irrigation system and construction of shed and gathering space. Guided volunteers in farm tasks and projects, including 30+ person workparties. Taught a 3 credit Biology internship on urban farming and ecology. Co-wrote grant proposals and gave presentations to UW administrative staff. Participated in consensus-based leadership with fellow students and organized team building and educational workshops. Conducted outreach through social media, fliers, and interviews for news outlets. Learned and practiced sound farming techniques including cover cropping, crop rotation, integrated pest management, and water conservation.

Worked with the Materials Management and Stewardship Team in the Office of Air, Waste, and Toxics for EPA Region 10. Coordinated an internal education webinar series on the connection between human consumption and environmental impacts, including identifying and scheduling topics and speakers, setting up webinars, developing outreach materials, and communicating with office staff and supervisors.
