Having sole responsibility for maintaining financial records for Hemingford Grey Playgroup, I kept accurate and timely records of sessions attended and hot lunches provided for 70 children, generating invoices on a termly basis. I was responsible for reconciling invoices with purchase orders and delivery notes, and paying suppliers whilst ensuring Playgroup was billed appropriately. I performed monthly bank reconciliations, and advised Management and Committee on budgets. I ensured that I provided timely advice on whether additional spending of resources was feasible based on forecasting using up-to-date financial information. I was responsible for managing bank accounts on behalf of Playgroup, and administering cards for Playgroup spending. After recognising a need for a documented policy, I introduced robust financial controls around Playgroup expenditure.I was responsible for performing the monthly payment of wages to 12 members of Playgroup Staff. On a weekly basis I was responsible for banking of fees and hot lunch payments, or more frequently if it proved necessary. I managed the petty cash, reimbursed Staff for expenses incurred and organised cash floats for promotional events and activities. At the end of the financial year I ensured that the accounts were completed, sent to the Accountant for sign-off, and then submitted to the Charity Commission. I set up the accounts and provided a forecast for the new Playgroup financial year.
