Raghavendra Iyer Email and Phone Number
Possessing a strong foundation in the theoretical and practical aspects of electrochemical energy conversion and storage, I am passionate about exploring materials for clean energy solutions and alleviating the global energy crisis. I recently completed my master's degree at Aalto University, where I majored in Energy Conversion Processes, and also hold a bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering. I have around 2 years of cumulative experience working in the field of electrochemistry and materials science, during which I undertook research in areas such as SO2 depolarized electrolyzers, photoelectrocatalysts for CO2 reduction, as well as cobalt-based electrocatalysts for zinc-air batteries. My goal is to contribute resourcefully to the advancement of technologies such as electrolyzers and fuel cells for applications in sustainable hydrogen production, CO2 reduction, and mobility, by pursuing further research and innovation. I am actively looking for opportunities where I can utilize my background and experience to contribute to such fields while further gaining invaluable skills and knowledge.

Research AssistantAalto University Jan 2024 - Jul 2024Espoo, Uusimaa, FinlandI undertook my Master's thesis with the Energy Conversion and Systems research group under the guidance of Prof. Annukka Santasalo-Aarnio, working on hydrogen production using SO2 Depolarized Electrolyzers (SDEs). The thesis focused on studying SO2 crossover effect in SDE single cells, as well as studying the stability and performance of an SDE stack over 50 hours of operation. My responsibilities included contributing towards building the SDE setup in the lab and troubleshooting various components, assembling and testing electrolyzer cells to study and mitigate SO2 crossover, as well as participating in planning and executing the 50-hour SDE stack run, during which parameters such as current, SO2 concentrations, and output gas purity were tracked. -
Research AssistantAalto University Jun 2023 - Dec 2023Espoo, Uusimaa, FinlandI worked as a Research Assistant in the Micro & Quantum Systems group, headed by Prof. Ilkka Tittonen. My main responsibility was to optimize the chemical vapor deposition growth of MoS2-MoO3 photoelectrocatalytic systems for CO2 reduction. Additionally, I was also involved in the characterization of the prepared samples using Raman spectroscopy. -
