Cassy Rowe Benefit, A Non-Profit 501C3, Charitable Organization (Www.Cassyrowebenefit.Org)
Sacramento, California Area
The Cassy Rowe Benefit has evolved from an effort to help a single person meet the challenge of coping with spinal cord injury, to becoming a non-profit 501C3 charitable organization. We have a formal relationship with the Shriners Hospital for Children and have donated to this organization each year from the proceeds of our soccer tournament. Our objective is to support, in anyway we can, the spinal cord injury community. Cassy knows first hand the challenges young people face while recovering from devastating spinal cord injury. Cassy has become an inspiration to many people, young and old who are wheelchair bound. We are currently developing a "Kids Mobility Campaign", to provide technology and wheelchair modifications to help individuals. We are being assisted by Shriners to connect with those in need. Additionally, Dick's Sporting goods has become a tournament sponsor and has signed on to our Kids Mobility Campaign, incorporating it within their Soccer Uniform Sales division. And the company Spinergy, who manufactures an electric assist attachment to a manual wheelchair (ZX-1) provides us deeply discounted products. We are expanding the devices and technology we will be offering to anyone in need. In August 2008 Cassy Rowe, an accomplished athlete tragically broke her neck in a soccer tournament resulting in paralysis from the neck down. I am Cassy's coach and on that fateful day Cassy's life changed forever and I am committed to helping her and others who have suffered from sports related spinal cord injury. Each year a tournament is held Sacramento in her name, which is supported by Soccer fans from all over the world
