I advise the Saintgits Group of Institutions on efforts to integrate with the rest of India, especially Northeast India.

Organise documentary film festival and basic camera workshop in educational institutions across the North East and other parts of India; organise film festivals in collaboration with foreign embassies in various towns of the region, promote documentary films as an educational and character-building tool. As a secretary of the NGO, we have organised over 110 documentary festivals so far.

Conceiving sessions, inviting writers, and planning the logistics of the festival

Conceiving the festival and managing it; backed by a team of 12 assistants.

Coordinating with Writers, Publishers and Organisations to facilitate their participation in the festival. Curate session plans, invite educational institutions from all over the world to be part of the festival.

The focus of the festival was writing from ASEAN. Led a team of eight dedicated individuals. Conceptualised 49 sessions for the festival; invited 135 literary figures from around the world, (20 countries). Coordinated with foreign missions in India and abroad for a hassle free visit of foreign writers.

Since this was the first festival of its kind in the Northeast, It was important to build in the young audience,, the target group, an interest in short films & documentaries. This was the challenge that I as a curator faced. Selecting documentaries, short and animation to keep students glued to their seats meant selecting films with short duration and films which they could directly relate to. Attendance in the three auditorium during the festival meant that we were able to do it. It was also testified by more than 25 filmmakers who were part of the festival as invitees. More than 80 documentaries, 30 short films and 15 animations films were part of the three day festival.

Responsible for coordinating the entire event, especially dealing with embassies both in India and Indian embassies in foreign countries, filmmakers, producers, media, government agencies and guests. Led the campaign to sensitise and enlist delegates for the film festival. The idea was to create a film culture and build on the success of the first festival. Over 6000 delegates, especially students, attended the festival where 100 plus films from 50 countries were screened. More than 50 guests attended the festival.

Responsible for coordinating the entire event, especially dealing with embassies, filmmakers, producers, media and other government agencies and guests. Lead the campaign to sensitise and enlist delegates for the film festival. Seventy eight films from 32 countries were screened in the first edition. Festival was organised by the Cultural Department, Government of Assam.

A daily newspaper (In-charge of business and sport content) from August 16, 2011. In February 2012, I started reporting and writing for the feature pages of the newspaper, including articles on films, wrote over 70 editorials and 60-odd articles on various issues covering education, politics, sports, films, etc. In April 2013, the paper shut down.

Associate Editor, Eastern Chronicle from July 15, 2010 to August 16,2011; Was in charge of the overall news content of the paper. Coordination with reporters, and overseeing the front page of the daily.

Executive Producer DY 365, Guwahati-based satellite channel, August 1, 2008 to July 14, 2010(Responsible for news content. Produced and anchored interview-based programme with people of eminence in their respective lives. I am also in touch with them.

Reported a couple of events for the Hindi Service and participated in a 30-min programme on development and terrorism in Northeast.

Deciding the monthly content in consultation with the editor, writing article, commissioning articles and news reports, editing stories/guest articles, designing the layout of the magazine with the designer.

Planning the content of the monthly; tracking major developments in the world of ICT and Careers each month, writing editorials and soliciting articles from domain experts, assigning reporters, correspondents as well as freelancers with news ideas; interviewing newsmakers, etc.

Having joined the paper in 2001, I learnt editing, planning the designated page, making the layout, translating reports from Assamese, Hindi and Bengali; giving suitable headlines, reporting for the paper and later even wrote articles in the edit and sport pages till I left it in 2006.
