Designed and implemented complex and difficult abandonment / suspension programs with wide range in scopes of work, covering standard well abandonments to remediation of wells with surface casing vent flows (SCVF) or gas migration (GM) issues. Provided technical support for field operations throughout Alberta and British Columbia. • Delivered timely and high-quality abandonment programs, including time and cost estimates, enabling informed decision making for business unit (BU) management. • Programmed and executed abandonment of 160 wells, in accordance with Alberta Energy Regulator (AER) and British Columbia Oil and Gas Commission (BCOGC) regulations; majority of operations completed at or below Authorization for Expenditures (AFE). • Worked on 44 wells that were identified with either SCVF or gas migration GM issues; successfully remediated 21 wells by developing and executing strategies and evaluating impact of each attempt • Worked with AER and BCOGC, identifying situations where nonroutine abandonments were acceptable for delivering cost savings while meeting regulatory requirements. • Responded quickly to operational issues that required direct input, including Management of Change (MOC), nonroutine approvals, and service provider programs, enhancing efficiency and minimizing downtime. • Implemented and evaluated new technologies (logging tools and analysis, perforating gun selection, cement blends, equipment) related to well abandonments, generating effective remediation attempts with improved success rates. • Visited field operation sites, actively promoting safety and discussing concerns with crews and supervisors. • Trained and mentored junior staff, using after-action reviews for enhancing successful remediation of problem wells. • Participated in review / rewriting of Industry Recommended Practice (IRP Volume #25, Primary Cementing) for Canadian Oil and Gas Industry (completed 2016).
