Following the appointment of a Group IT Director, my job role changed to IT Business Services Manager. In this role I assisted in the centralisation of all IT staff (with the exception of break/fix engineers) to Ipswich resulting in redundancy for 19 out of 27 staff in Jun 2012. I recruited and managed two new teams; Business systems and Infrastructure.Responsibilities: Problem management and root cause analysis & Managing of Major IncidentsAchievements: Recruitment of new team in Ipswich, Selection of a new ITL based Service Desk system (Cherwell), Migration from old regional based teams to centrally located teams

Promoted to manage IT for the UK Group providing services to 1900 users. The four existing regionally based IT managers for the acquired businesses in the UK initially had dotted-line reporting to me. We instigated a change programme resulting in the transition of existing resources into four functional based teams reporting directly to me. Responsibilities: IT strategy for the UK group, Manage IT services for the UK group, Budget responsibility £4m/annum, control and management, Contract negotiation, Board reporting/presentations, Configuration Database and Inventory management, Disaster Recovery & Business Continuity planning Achievements: Development of an IT strategy for the UK Group, Implementation of central single instance of Evision ERP (based on MS Dynamics Nav) to serve the UK group, Migration of 5 businesses from legacy finance systems to a central instance of Evision, Selection and implementation of Orchidnet Intranet to serve the global group, Transformation of legacy trading business unit-centric IT teams into functional teams that, whilst geographically diverse, delivered services UK-wide, Design specification for, and implementation of, a Service Desk ticket management system. Developed by our Intranet provider and building on the Intranet platform, this cost-effective solution delivered a comprehensive system at approximately a fifth of the cost of comparable solutions realising capital savings of £50k + and revenue savings of £15k/annum

Initially 1st and 2nd line support, then development of in-house database applications, specifically for project tracking and CRM. As these systems matured I took on the role of systems manger supporting the sales processing package for the Compressed Air business. Promoted to Group IT Manager and managing a team of 9, I worked closely with the Group Services Manager to transform the disparate IT resources into a successful customer-focused team. During this tenure I managed the relocation of all IT systems into a new office. The success of this move redefined the standing of IT within the business. Achievements: Selection and implementation of replacement ERP solution (Evision based on MS Navision), Requirement gathering and product assessment for a new Estimating system, Implemented a comprehensive Internet URL filtering system, Relocation of all IT systems from Kesgrave to new office location at Cliff Quay, Ipswich, Transformation of the computer operations and support teams into a cohesive, customer-focused IT department, Year 2000 compliance project, Development in MS Access (v 2) - Project tracking/CRM system, Design and implementation of £250k ethernet network, Introduction of email (MS Exchange) and electronic faxing (Equisys Zetafax)
