Responsible for the safe operations of the Oak Point plant. Managed the Operations organization of ~200 exempt and USW Union employees with an annual OPEX (operating expenditure) budget of over $120MM. As Operations Manager, the site realized no injuries, no recordable spills, and met all other business objectives over the course of a year which had not been demonstrated before. Reorganized the Operations function into 3 focus areas: execution; planning; and improving. Placed Head Operators in each of the 6 control rooms to improve execution; and, created Operations Assistant positions in each area focusing on process and operating improvements. Responsible for safe and effective startups of new strategic chemical products: 247ZX; 10400X; and 10600.  Successfully negotiated the contract renewal with the USW in 2015 as the operations representative. Managing-Safe-Work Sponsor for the site. Conformed the Oak Point procedures and practices with Chevron Refining Safe Work Practices standards to improve the Work Permitting process. Global Process Owner for manufacturing software systems for Oronite with the responsibility for sustaining, improving, and innovating computer applications used by the Manufacturing function globally. Capital Project Sponsor Supreme Certified. Decision Executive for critical capital projects for operations; such as the implementation of a new environmental unit which significantly reduced H2S (hydrogen sulfide) alarm activations at the site.

Corporate leader for maximizing effective utilization of the Titanium Dioxide manufacturing plants for the Titanium Technologies Business within Dupont.  Led five global plants in the improvement of asset utilization/reliability to achieve greater than 90% performance to meet sold-out markets Ensured necessary capital projects were implemented to improve reliability. Created the global process of sharing and leveraging of reliability initiatives between plants

Buffalo-Niagara Falls Area

Managed plant and staff of ~200 exempt and USW Union employees, producing Dupont’s sole-sourced product for the solar panel and aircraft interior markets. Implemented the Dupont Production System (modeled after the Toyota Production System). Achieved safety, production, reliability, and on-time delivery performance records in a sold-out market environment. Led initiative to improve customer confidence through successful improvement in on-time delivery and product quality. Improved union/management working relationship (which historically had been hostile) through issue-resolution teams, regular non-bargaining meetings, and through union involvement in improvement initiatives in the plant.

Delisle, Mississippi, United States

Responsible for the safe Operations at the world’s second largest pigment plant with production of ~300K metric tons/year and operations staff of over 200 employees.  Achieved safety, quality, and production records for the site  Responsible for the success restart of the plant after a 5-month, $150MM, plant reconstruction following over 11ft of flooding from hurricane Katrina in 2005.

Wilmington, Delaware, United States

Led the Six Sigma implementation for the Titanium Technologies business and was responsible for a team of six Black Belts implementing performance improvements to achieve business objectives. Site achieved most the financially validated dollars per project in the Titanium Dioxide business in its first year of being established. Worked with the site leaders, black belts, and the project teams to gain Union employee buy-in to Six Sigma in an uncooperative environment.

Altamira, Tamaulipas, Mexico

Asset Effectiveness/Reliability advisor – Titanium Technologies Plant Jan 1997 – May 1999DuPont Mexico Altamira, MEXICOExpatriate advisory assignment to improve the reliability and availability of the titanium dioxide plant in Altamira, Mexico. Led the plant initiative to implement planning, scheduling, prioritization, analytics, and execution systems to build organizational capability for continual improvement in asset reliability.  This effort improved the Altamira plant availability from the worst performing site (~70%) to the best performing site (>90%) globally; performance that the plant has now sustained for 20 years.  Received recognition from the site; an Award of Excellence from Dupont of Mexico; and, a DuPont Corporate Engineering Excellence award for these achievements.

Lafayette, Louisiana, United States

Responsible for transforming the 70 Conoco production platforms in the Gulf of Mexico (GOM) to contractor-manned operations. Led a multi-functional team which traveled to several regions globally (BP in the North Sea; Persian Gulf) which developed, deployed, and successfully transitioned to offshore contract operations. This effort dramatically shifted the cost structure of the division to be competitive with other global operating companies in the GOM region. I was recognized with a Conoco award for leading this initiative.
