During my internship with the Software Systems Lab I had the opportunity of implementing compiler optimizations for an OpenCL FPGA compiler using LLVM. The motivation for the project was to overcome the issues in information sharing during compilation of OpenCL programs, the last due to the host and device separated compilation schemes established in the OpenCL API. That was my first time working with LLVM and it was also the first time I saw how a real compiler optimization was implemented. Specifically I had the opportunity of implementing a special case of constant propagation called Inter Compiler Constant Propagation(ICCP) which basically finds constants in the host code that afterwards will be supplied to the device compiler.

During my internship in National Instruments, I developed a driver in VHDL to communicate an embedded processor with an Analog Output module implemented in a CPLD. In general the project was really challenging given that I was the only one working on that specific project and if it's true that I was working in a team in which communication is key element during development, at the end the design decisions were my responsibility. Most of the knowledge for this work was digital design and embedded systems design.

Well known is that Intel is part of the smartphones and tablets market. The Android Engineering Team is in charge of make sure that x86 devices can run an stable Android version. During my time in Intel I was part of the System Stability Group. As its name states, this group was in charge of ensuring the system could operate as expected. My responsibilities were mainly focused on drivers and operating systems services integration. Sometimes it was required to write new code so the functionality could be possible in x86, while some other times it was only debugging existing code.
