About Ramon Sanchez

Recently completed my PhD in Mechanical Engineering at Boston University, where I developed a novel 3D printing fabrication strategy for stretchable electronics. My research bridges mechanical engineering, dynamic systems, and cutting-edge materials to enable rapid prototyping of soft and stretchable haptic devices. I'm passionate about solving complex engineering challenges and am actively exploring opportunities in R&D, product development, and advanced manufacturing.

This device was evaluated through… Show more Haptic feedback for assistive technologies - Developed a pair of custom walker handles with vibrotactile and skin-stretch haptic feedback capabilities. - Developed a pair of custom walker handles with force sensors and used this data to implement HMM algorithms for sit-to-standing usage classification.- Developed an adjustable neck-worn skin-stretch device for providing directional cues through the neck. This device was evaluated through a user study of 14 participants in which participants navigated through a virtual environment following the haptic cues from the neck-worn device. The virtual environment and navigational tasks were done on CoppeliaSim. - Developed five haptic modules for rapid prototyping of tactile displays. The modules are re-attachable, wearable, wireless, customizable, and can be placed on different parts of the body. - Developed and optimized a mechanically activated 3D printed liquid metal emulsion for stretchable electronics with a conductivity 300% higher than previous works. - Designed an intuitive graphical user interface for creating on-demand circuits using direct ink writing.- Implemented a hybrid 3D printing manufacturing process to create a wireless soft wearable electronic skin combining printed force sensing resistors with off-the-shelf electronics. - Currently developing a 3D printed soft wearable tactile display with off-the-shelf actuators and electronics.
