Projects included the reopening of the vaudeville era El Portal Theatre in North Hollywood after the Northridge earthquake, the adaptive reuse and seismic upgrade of a Baptist church for the African American Unity Center in South Los Angeles, and code / ADA upgrade research for the historic Pasadena Playhouse. Served as liaison between engineering consultants, clients, construction crews, and city/county plan check officials.
Architect
• Managed aspects of facility improvement at Los Angeles International Airport. Clients included Federal Express, Delta, United and American Airlines. Main projects included the US$30 million maintenance ramp enhancements for United Airlines and the Terminal 4 upgrade for American Airlines. Implemented successful transition from paper-based construction drawings to computer aided design (AutoCAD) software with the networked installation of over thirty computers.• Organized a series of study groups in 1992 -93 with thirty candidates from firms in the Los Angeles area to prepare for the architectural record exam. This forum served not only for test preparation but as a support group for members to share information about test sites, study materials and test taking techniques. 75% of the participants involved passed the entire exam. This was followed with sessions to prepare for the oral exam - 100% of the participants passed.
Designer/Draftsman
• Designed and prepared the construction drawings for various educational, housing, garden design projects and the historic federal courthouse in Baton Rouge, LA. • Inspected educational facilities for asbestos and prepared abatement drawings.
