My career began in the hospitality industry where I spent several years in the hotel and motel business. While there, I learned being successful is about taking care of the clientele. As a Principal and CPA at HSMC Orizon, I serve my clients by assisting them with the administrative side of their businesses and helping teach them how run their businesses more efficiently. Many of my clients are in the restaurant, retail, manufacturing industries and medical fields. I have a great deal of experience with start-up businesses. While I handle a lot of tax preparation, tax planning and accounting for my clients, I do much more than that for them. I guide them in preparing financial projections, budgeting, asset acquisition, cash flow planning, long-term planning and obtaining credit with their bank.My goal is to educate my clients so their business runs more smoothly. My love of teaching my clients about their businesses is what really drives me. I help them identify what they need assistance with, design a plan or system to aid them, teach them about reading financial statements and help guide the management of their finances. I take the surprises out of accounting, so they can be as successful as possible. I enjoy being actively involved in the community. I am a board member and treasurer for my local Kiwanis Club. I am the Vice-chairman of the Nebraska Crime Victims Reparations Committee, and a member of AICPA and the Nebraska Society of CPA’s. I also serve on the Independence and Behavioral Standards subcommittee of the Professional Ethics Executive Committee for the AICPA. I speak monthly for SCORE, the non-profit arm of the SBA, for 30 years. Recently I received the Distinguished Service to the Profession award from the Nebraska Society of CPA’s.In my spare time I enjoy spending time with my wife, Ginger, our three daughters and nine grandchildren. I enjoy golf, fishing and am an avid reader of history and mysteries.
